We sometimes get asked what’s developing across all of our impact groups – although this is a regular slot on our steering group agenda, we also know that if you’re part of one impact group you might still be curious about what’s happening in the others. More Spaces to Hang Out & Safer Streets
- Expansion of youth provision continues across Torbay, including the YMCA youth bus, OneSpace drop-in (Local Motion), Acorn Centre developments and Fuel Youth’s growing Brixham youth offer.
- Active Devon has committed support to youth groups in each town, as well as detached session development with the YMCA youth bus.
- Stronger collaboration is developing with Children’s Services, Swisco/Green Spaces and Community Alcohol Partnership.
- Key focus areas moving forward include detached youth work, the emerging YouthCo alliance model and sustainability planning.
Access for All
- Partnership work continues around transport, young carers, youth services, care experienced young people and Youth Justice participation.
- Future funding opportunities are being explored around poverty, discrimination, care experienced young people and young carers in line with Lottery priorities.
Ways to Protect the Environment
- The Imagination Station pilot at Parkfield is about to be underway (see this month’s blog here: imaginethis-torbay.co.uk/first-youth-led-climate-action-imagination-station-at-peoples-parkfield/, creating youth-led opportunities around green skills, climate action and future careers.
- A £100k Co-op Green Opportunities Fund bid has been submitted to expand this work across Torbay through a wider hub-and-spoke model.
- The group continues to focus on youth climate leadership, wellbeing and environmental action.
Reducing Stress & Anxiety
- The impact group has expanded through new wellbeing and therapeutic partners joining the network.
- Community-based wellbeing delivery is developing, including links with Young Devon and the Care Experienced Hub.
- Priorities include relational support, service collaboration and future joint funding bids.
Partnership and Fundraising
- Following partner feedback, the Safer Streets and Spaces to Hang Out groups have now merged.
- Future fundraising is likely to become increasingly youth-led and partner-led, while continuing to build on the shared relationships, values and practices developed through Imagine This.
- Work is ongoing to identify future funding to sustain partnership coordination beyond the current Lottery funding period.
